About Dr. Sandigo

Dr. Sandigo combines his passion for horses with his professional expertise in order to provide quality medical care to all horses, regardless of their height, width, temperment, and the length of their ears. Dr. Sandigo holds a Masters in Chemistry from Northern Arizona University and earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. He returned with and to his family in Yuma and began serving the equine population when he opened Rio Colorado Veterinary Service in 1997. Ten years later, the practice was renamed Rio Colorado Equine Veterinary Service, to reflect his dedication to horses. Dr. Sandigo practises Natural Horsemanship and has had the good fortune to study under Ron Willis. He studies and applies these principals to his own horses and well as each patient he sees.

Joan Duquette is a Certified Veterinary Technician with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. She spent 10 years as a veterinary technician in the US Army Veterinary Command before settling in Yuma. Dr. Sandigo brought Joan on board in 1997 to help him provide a service designed specifically to meet the needs of Yuma's horses (and owners of course!).
